Fitness Classes

WATER BASED CLASSES WILL START JULY 12,2021

Participants will be required to observe current city and state mandated Covid-19 guidelines in place which includes wearing a mask if you are not fully vaccinated

There will be a maximum participant limit per session and reservations are on a first come, first served basis.

Reservations can be made one day in advance, one appointment per day per customer by calling 575-541-2782 during business hours. (Reservations for Monday will be taken on Saturday.) Same day reservations can be made by phone if space is available.   

Athletics:

Summer Sport Sessions: June 7 through July 30, 2021 

The programs below have been developed with the health, wellness, and safety of participants and staff in mind. Community members who are 18 and older can call to reserve a spot to participate in volleyball, basketball, and pickleball sessions as well as cardio/weight room opportunities. There will be a maximum participant limit per session and reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Participants will need an updated waiver on file to participate. For more information or to reserve a session opportunity please call Meerscheidt Recreation Center at 575/541-2563 from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • Adult Basketball - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Participants must be over the age of 18 in order to participate. All participants must check in at the front desk upon arrival. The fee for this activity is $1.00 per person, per session. There is a limit of 20 people per session, per court.
  • Adult Volleyball - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. : Participants must be over the age of 18 in order to participate. All participants must check in at the front desk upon arrival. The fee for this activity is $1.00 per person, per session. There is a limit of 20 people per session, per court.
  • Adult Pickleball - Tuesday & Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants must be over the age of 18 in order to participate. All participants must check in at the front desk upon arrival. The fee for this activity is $1.00 per person, per session. There is a limit of 20 people per session.
  • Cardio/Weight Room - Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The fee is $1.00 per person, per session.

    Additional Information: 
    • Participants will be required to observe current city and state mandated Covid-19 guidelines in place which includes wearing a mask if you are not fully vaccinated. Failure to comply will result in refusal of session and/or will be asked to leave the premises.     
    • Reservations are required to participate in sport sessions and weight room opportunities. 
    • Reservations can be made one day in advance, one appointment per day per customer by calling 575/541-2563 during business hours. (Reservations for Monday will be taken on Friday.) 
    • Walk-ins will not be allowed and will be immediately turned away. (Same day reservations can be made by phone if space is available.) 
    • Showers and lockers will not be available.

All Sport Sessions are located at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.

Mid to High-Intensity Workouts

  • Aqua Hiit: Low-impact, high-intensity interval training class that combines full-body strength and high intensity burst of cardio. For all fitness levels.
  • Aqua Fitness: Intermediate to advance intensity, aerobic exercises.

Exercise for Relaxation & Wellness

  • Aqua Motion: Exercises in the pool designed to relieve stress from work days. Slow movement in the warm water pool to help you stretch and relax. Individu ial attention to help you gain the most from your warm water experience.
  • Channel Sizing Cardio based water channel walking exercises that are low impact and fun. For all fitness levels.
  • Swimnastics: Aquatic aerobics exercise program geared for members with arthritis, joint pain, joint injury or replacement and back ailments.  We will be using noodles and aqua weights to strengthen all muscle groups. The water gives more mobility and flexibility than with traditional out-of-water aerobics classes.
