History Notes: Bracero Program
Thursday, April 8, 2021
Discover history and culture through a monthly informal discussion series on the second Thursday of each month at 1pm. From April through June, the theme is “History of Agriculture.” In this presentation, Dr. Yolanda Levya of the University of Texas at El Paso explores the history of the Bracero Program. The Bracero Program was a work program between the U.S. and Mexico that guaranteed Mexican workers minimum wage, good living conditions, a savings account in Mexico, and safety from forced military service.
