The Las Cruces City Council took formal action at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 7, 2021 to declare that Las Cruces is experiencing severe drought conditions and is restricting the use of permissible fireworks to barren or paved areas or areas where water is readily available.
Commercial displays are not affected by this Resolution.
Permissible fireworks may be sold within the City of Las Cruces from June 20, 2021 through July 6, 2021. Permissible fireworks for possession, use, or sale means, fireworks legal for sale and use in the state under the provisions of NMSA 1978, § 60-2C-7, the Fireworks Licensing and Safety Act as amended, except all aerial devices and ground audible devices. Aerial and ground audible devices are not permissible to sell, possess or use within the city limits.
Please use permissible fireworks safely and respectfully. Safe use includes adult supervision at all times and only lighting fireworks on barren or paved areas. Used firework cones and devices should be soaked with water before discarding into a trash can.
Permissible fireworks include ground and hand-held sparkling devices, cone fountains, crackling devices, cylindrical fountains, flitter sparklers, ground spinners, illuminating torches, and wheels.
Fireworks prohibited for sale, possession and use within Las Cruces includes all aerial devices and ground audible devices.
