Three top finalists for the new Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV) public art project will present their design concepts to the art selection committee from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 29 at City Hall, 700 N. Main St., in Conference Room 2007-A. The public is welcome to attend the presentations.

The proposed artwork should be designed to be a free-standing sculpture that will become a neighborhood focal point promoting the new ASCMV facility, currently under construction on Bataan Memorial West. Finalists were selected by the art selection committee from a pool of 139 submissions to the ASCMV Call for Entry and invited to present their design.

Each presentation is allocated one hour per artist; the first presenter is scheduled at 8:30 a.m., the second presenter at 9:45 a.m. and third presenter at 11 a.m. The art selection committee will go into a closed meeting after the presentations to deliberate and discuss the designs and their recommendation for the animal services center. The selected design will then be presented to City Council at a future council meeting for final approval.
