[ARCHIVED] Fire Damages Building on S. Mesquite Street

Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire in a building on S. Mesquite Street late Thursday evening.
 
Just after 11 p.m. Thursday, October 14, firefighters were dispatched to the report of a structure fire on the 500 Block of S. Mesquite Street. Firefighters arrived to find smoke emitting from the building and exterior items on fire. Crews extinguished the exterior fires and entered the building to find the fire extended to one of the walls. Firefighters extinguished the fire in the wall and contained the fire to that area.
 
No injuries were reported. Damage estimates are valued at $30,000.
 
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
